TurtleShell Stitches

I’m a 20 year old college student who loves all things knitting, crocheting, and sewing. My grandmother taught me the crocheting basics when I was young and it took off from there. Since then I have taught myself more advanced crocheting techniques and how to knit.  My mom taught me to sew but I don’t have my sewing machine with me at school, so I don’t sew as much as I’d like to.

I also love to cook and I cannot resist a good cookbook. One of my favorite ways to spend a Sunday afternoon is cooking with/for my friends. I like trying out new recipes and making cosy, traditional dishes. I’m not much of a baker, but I make really great healthy muffins.

I’ve always loved to read. I like reading almost everything and everyone. I’m a huge Jane Austen fan. I fell in love with her books when I read Sense and Sensibility in fifth grade and since then I have read all of her other ones. I am also a huge Micheal Crichton fan and one of my favorite books is Timeline. I also really liked Doomsday Book by Connie Willis. Growing up my favorite books were the Little House Series by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Some of my other favorites are The Bean Trees/Pigs in Heaven (Barbara Kingsolver), The Time Traveller’s Wife, The Hot Zone, Thursday Next Series (Jasper Fforde), and Charlotte Grey. Currently I am reading Willa Cather’s My Antonia which I am enjoying alot (soon to be added to my LONG list of favorites).
